Autumn in the Garden

The leaves are falling and the songbirds have flown south, here in the Haliburton Highlands. It's amazing how quiet the forest is behind our house. No crickets singing at night and no chirping from all the trees around our house. I'm looking forward to the return of the Robins. They were congregating at the beach down the road from us last week. On their way to a warmer climate. Can't say I blame them!

This is a little snippet from my garden. Heucherella and some hardy type of succulent that trails everywhere. I think it's called 'burrows tail', or something like thtat. I like the colour combination of the two.
So, here's hoping winter makes only a brief, well-behaved visit to our northern woods.
Happy Autumn!

Herbs in the Garden and some Allium, too.

One of my favourites, Allium karataviense. Nice large globe shapes, but shorter stems. Lovely foliage, too. Big leaves!
Cilantro/Coriander started from seed. They're in the raised bed.

Lemon Balm. I love it. Such a great scent. I dry it for use it in my handmade bath products.
